Rubin: the man's man

Steve is scary tough

This is what 130 miles plus will do to your hat. Steve is a machine and cranks out 100+ miles like you and I breathe air.

the wait is over

I know you want to skid your face off, but you don't have enough clearance between your stays. Bummercity, right? Wrong! Now you can get your beloved Randos in 25c and we have them IN STOCK for $34.99. Get 'em while they're hot.

I Love Oregon: the McKenzie River Trail

Lindo and I (Amanda) took a three day trip to the McKenzie River Trail this last weekend. It was my first time, but not my last. We parked right by the trail and just camped out of the Tahoe. It was magic. I had a lot of fun and learned that you can't have someone else crack your back while lying down. We tried.... 3 times.

Party Party Party

Who doesn't love a party? I am sure there are a few misanthropes out there who choose to eschew PARTIES et al, hey its cool because they are not invited, who wants a Debbie Downer moping around a fun time explosion? Answer, no one. Jeremy Dunn, the main man at Embrocation Cycling Journal and the corporate outreach merry maker for Rapha USA , is throwing a party to celebrate the release of Embrocation Volume 5. To help us all feel a little bit of the excitement he feels when he puts out an issue of these babies he has put together a little contest. For the 2009 SSCXWC Jeremy road a custom Raleigh, Shimano equipped cross bike, this is the grand prize for the contest. Here's the rub, Jeremy has not defined the format of the contest, I am the other judge, hall ah! So stay tuned to his blog to see how this train wreck unfolds. Until then

Myles' new Signal

You may know Myles from his shop Ampersand. You may know him from his reoccurring role in the hit T.V. series Full House. Ok, I made that last part up, but he does have a vintage bookstore called Ampersand. That part is true. Well, the books are vintage not the store. ANYWAY... he brought his new Signal over to show us so now I am showing you.

sad day at 21st

Why is Married Kyle and the rest of us so sad? Well, in the picture you will notice the absence of the world's greatest mustache. I was SO bummed out when I got to work and saw it was gone. Every time I would look over at Kyle when he had his mustache I would smile. Now, every time I look at him I want to punch something. Don't worry customer you are safe, but if you are a cardboard box watch your back.

Our rep is fresher than yours

I took this picture right after our Cyclone rep, Jeremy, popped, locked and the pulled out a couple of windmills. Funky fresh, yo.

Park's forced smile

This is Park. He's our boss. He belongs to Kato. I would've posted pictures of him before, but he moves quickly like a gazel and it is hard to capture him on film or in this case digi. Now, we are all caught up. Above is his first (and a tad bit early) attempt to settle into his Spring/Summer attire. I thought that once he made the transition into flipity flops there was no going back. I guess that's not the case. If you see him on the street make sure you stop him and give him a super firm handshake. Don't break eye contact and if he trys to let go squeeze a little harder. He'll really like that. Again, his name is Park and in a couple weeks he should be wearing shorts and flip flops. Look for him.

NuVinci

Dave from NuVinci stopped by to give us the scoop in this internally geared hub. Wow, those are some big bearings, huh? It dwarfs my hand! Ok, not really.

Evan's sweet two wheeled dream machine

I thought Evan was a handsome man before. I mean, look at him. The word STUD comes to mind. Now, with his beard poking out the bottom of his helmet and 125cc between his legs I find him irresistible. I can't bear it.

Glove love

This was a good one. Dude came in looking for new gloves. I know "why", right? Well, apparently he thought they were a little worn out. I was hoping he would kick down his old pair, but alas he left with them.

I've seen the Light!

Yes! You may not know this, but LDR Kyle is moving across to the other side of the United States to be with LDR Laura. So, we hired Sean Light to fill shoes and to be awesome....which he is pretty good at. He's from Oregon but has been living in NYC and working at Trackstar. Now, he's back in the west (because it's the best) and working here at 21st. He's vegan too so now we outnumber the non. Face! We are stoked to have him. Welcome to the crew Sean.

Urban Velo 18

Come to 21st Ave Bicycles for your copy. Not now. They aren't in yet, but when they are....oh boy! Thanks Urban Velo. You're so dreamy.

The Sunday swap meet is a battle ground

I got up early on Sunday and met Mitch at Sandbox Studios for my very 1st bike swap meet. I was super stoked. Everyone seemed to be in a great mood and the only pushing/shoving that was done was from Mitch and me when we heard about the $5 Flight saddles. No one was hurt.

Sean and his Dad in line ready to pounce.

My new ride. Fits like a glove.... a glove that fits.
Mitch takes his recumbent bike seriously. Look at his face. Serious business.
Jessica and Jason with their sweet finds.

Jared, from Cyclepath, making dreams come true.
Sharky with a potential bike for his kid.
